The West is running away from Afghanistan

American policy in Afghanistan is in tatters after the sacking of US Afghan commander Stanley McChrystal. To add fuel on the fire the head of the British army David Richards said, “I think there's no reason why we shouldn't be looking at that sort of thing [talking to the Taliban] pretty soon”.

Furthermore British Prime Minister David Cameron said that he wants UK troops to leave Afghanistan within 5 years.

It is obvious that the West is adopting the policy of cut and run in Afghanistan. It wants to leave the Afghanistan as soon as possible. However, the Taliban are not willing to negotiate with the West before it leaves Afghanistan.
