The Taliban are not the enemy of USA

USA is trying to appease the Taliban so that it can have safe passage to escape from Afghanistan after suffering defeat. This policy of appeasement is gathering momentum after Pakistan has banned NATO supply convoys.

In a bizarre statement the US Vice President Joe Biden‏ said, “Look, the Taliban per se is not our enemy… There is not a single statement that the president has ever made in any of our policy assertions that the Taliban is our enemy, because it threatens U.S. interests.” This statement raised the important question of why USA attacked Afghanistan, if the Taliban were not the enemies of USA.

US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney labeled Biden's remarks and President Obama's belief that the Taliban are not the enemy as “bizarre, factually wrong and an outrageous affront our troops carrying out the fight in Afghanistan.” Romney said, “The statement is typical of the Obama administration’s foreign policy of appeasement.”

USA attacked Afghanistan to contain China and to control oil and gas deposits in the Central Asia. However, this strategy has backfired due to defeat of USA and its Western allies in Afghanistan. Now, Pakistan has stopped NATO supply route from its territory, as a result USA’s policy of appeasement of the Taliban is becoming vital.
