India’s economic future depends on Kashmir

India depends on Pakistan to trade with Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia by land. India has shown its desperation to persuade Pakistan to let it trade by land during South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal.

“Pakistan refused to approve two agreements allowing the seamless movement of goods and passenger vehicles and railways citing a lack of domestic approval, according to two officials, who did not want to be identified as the information was private” according to according to Bloomberg news agency.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Sushil Koirala said that “It is upon us, the member states, to decide how strong and effective SAARC becomes … Despite many transformative potential in the region, our achievement stands short of expectations, and we alone are responsible for shortcoming in the SAARC process.”

India has failed to implement United Nations’ resolutions to resolve the issue of Kashmir. If India wants to help its poor people by trade then it must resolve the issue of Kashmir. People of Kashmir deserve to decide their future through democratic means given to them through the resolutions of United Nations.
