Kashmir: Modi’s biggest political blunder

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi has squandered of his political asset in Kashmir. Modi’s gamble in Kashmir has backfired. He tried to please right wing extremist by introducing draconian policies in Kashmir. These policies encourage Indian soldiers to kill more than a hundred unarmed civilians. Hundreds of people including children lost their eyesight due to pellet guns fired by Indian army. Thousands of protesters were injured.

On the other hand, powerful Indian business lobby wants to handle the issue of Kashmir and relations with Pakistan in an amicable way. Indian business lobby wants to access Europe, Middle East, the Central Asia and Africa through Pakistan.

It seems that Modi is heeding to business lobby. After the drama of surgical strikes, Modi did not act like Donald Trump anymore. Indian opposition parties exposed Modi’s claims that India conducted surgical strikes in Azad (Pakistani administered) Kashmir. Pakistan refuted Indian claims of surgical strikes. Indian opposition parties are still waiting for proves of so called surgical strikes from Modi.

Modi is playing with the lives of innocent Kashmiri civilians for political gain. But, Indian opposition parties are not allowing Modi to use Kashmir for domestic political gains. Sacrifices of freedom loving Kashmiri people are reaping rewards. The international community acknowledges the right of self-determination of Kashmiri people.
